Cisco GLC-T transceiver module is a 1000BASE-T SFP for Copper Networks. It is designed for Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over Category 5e (Cat5e) unshielded twisted pair copper cabling up to 100m link length via a RJ-45 connector. It operates at a data transfer rate of up to 1000 megabits per second (Mbps). The transceiver supports full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet over data link. It allows to leverage existing cabling infrastructure and avoid the cost and disruption of installing new fibre optic cables.
The GLC-T, Cisco 1000BASE-T SFP (small form-factor pluggable) module that can be plugged into a Gigabit Ethernet port or slot on a network device, such as a router or switch. It can be used in both 1000BASE-T and 1000BASE-TX applications. It is compliant with the IEEE 802.3ab standard for 1000BASE-T and the IEEE 802.3z standard for 1000BASE-SX, which allows for compatibility with a wide range of networking equipment.
GLC-T transceiver is hot swappable, and also supports auto negotiation and Auto MDI-MDIX. It is ideal for enterprise networking for LAN applications and other networking areas that require the copper connections.
In order to use the GLC-T module, the network device should have a SFP slot or port that is compatible with the module.
